Hershey’s Sensational Peppermint Pattie Brownies

(Recipe from the Hershey company)

24 small YORK peppermint patties (more if needed)

1-1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter or margarine, melted

3 cups sugar

1 Tbl vanilla

5 eggs

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup Hershey cocoa

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

Heat oven to 350 degrees (325 for glass). Remove wrappers from patties. Grease 13x9x2 baking pan.

Stir together butter, sugar, and vanilla in large bowl. Add eggs, beat well until well blended. Stir in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; blend well. Reserve 2 cups batter. Spread remaining batter into prepared pan. Arrange patties about ½ inch apart in single layer over batter. Spread reserved 2 cups batter over patties.

Bake 50-55 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack; cut into squares. About 36 brownies.

Inner Chef Note: I have also used Duncan Hines Moist and Chewy Brownie mix with this; while it is delicious….the brownies with this recipe works the best.DSCN7548
